Marriage License Correction Instructions

The State of Michigan requires that all information on the marriage license be complete and accurate. Corrections are handled by the County Clerk after the evidence is approved by the circuit court with an ex parte order (MCL 551.111).

To help facilitate the correction of your License of Marriage, the Mason County Clerk and the 51st Circuit Court have prepared a form called the “Affidavit and Motion to Correct License of Marriage, Verification, and Ex Parte Order” and step-by-step instructions.

The fee to correct a License of Marriage is $175.00
