Introduction

The mission of the Scottville Area Senior Center is to provide a place where Boomers and Seniors can meet, receive services and participate in activities that will enhance their dignity, support their independence and encourage their involvement in and with the community.  The center has been in operation since 1973.  Funds to provide services are received through:

Area Agency on Aging of Western MI, Inc.

Services
The following servcies are available to qualified Mason County Residents.  Call to find out if we can assist you;
 
Homemaker Program
Applicants must be 60 years of age or older and physically not able to do their own house cleaning.  Some of the services provided are:
 
Light Housekeeping • Laundry • Shopping
 
Depending on need and availability, assistance can be 2 hours every other week or every week.  Service must be on a continual scheduled basis.
 
Medical Transportation
Transportation can be provided within a 100-mile radius, but should have a minimum of three business days notice to make arrangements.  Applicants must be 60 years of age or older and have no other means of transportation for medical appointmens.  We provide door-to-door service and hands-on assistance if needed.
 
Respite Care
If you are a caregiver, you know that this important job is both rewarding and sometimes stressful.  The respite program allows you the gift of personal time.  The program is available for any person 60 years of age or over, who serves as a caregiver, as well as for persons of any age who are providing care for someone 60 or over.  Respite Aides can provide up to 4 hours of supervision and/or companionship while the caregiver is out of the home or resting.  Service must be on a continual basis.

Parkinsons:
Meets at the Senior Center on the 3rd Wednesday from 1:00 - 2::00 p.m., March through November.

Senior Nutrition Program

Mason County Central School serves lunch at the Senior Center Monday—Friday at 11:45 a.m., starting with the salad bar.  Call the Center by 9:00am  to make reservations.  Suggested donation for lunch, salad bar, milk and coffee is $3.00 for 60 and over.  For others under 60, the cost is $5.00.
