NEED ASSISTANCE?  If you are having trouble paying your property taxes, following are some possible sources of assistance.

Michigan Homeowner Assistance Fund (MIHAF)

Link Is Now Available - 2/14/2022

The Homeowner Assistance Fund was established to mitigate hardships associated with the coronavirus pandemic by providing funds to prevent homeowner mortgage delinquencies, defaults, foreclosure, loss of utilities or home energy services and displacements of homeowners experiencing financial hardship on or after January 21, 2020 or for those homeowners who experience a coronavirus pandemic financial hardship that began before January 21, 2020, but continued after that date.

MI State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) intends to launch the MIHAF program to the public on February 14, 2022.  An online and mobile application portal will be available on the MIHAF website at www.michigan.gov.

The Mason County Treasurer's office will be able to assist taxpayers in completing the application.  Please check this website frequently for more information on applying for the MIHAF program.
