Property Tax Payments

TAX PAYMENTS - The Mason County Treasurer accepts property tax payments for Delinquent Taxes and Current Eden Summer Taxes in the following forms:


CHECK or MONEY ORDER – Personal, business and credit card checks or money orders are accepted with the exception that cash or certified bank funds are required to redeem forfeited property within thirty (30) days of the March 31 foreclosure date. 

Checks or money orders should be made payable to: MASON COUNTY TREASURER.

CREDIT CARD – Major credit cards (Discover, MasterCard, Visa or American Express) are accepted through a third-party, Access My Gov.  A service fee will be added to the total amount charged in the following amounts:


Payments made in person at Treasurer’s Office

3% Service Fee, $2.00 Minimum Fee


Internet Payments made at

3% Service Fee, $2.00 Minimum Fee

POSTMARKS AS PAYMENT DATE - The Mason County Treasurer does not accept postmarks as the payment date.  For delinquent taxes, or current taxes paid after the due date, payments must be received in the same month the payment is made for.  If the last day of the month or the due date is a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday observed by Mason County, then payments will be accepted on the next business day without additional interest or penalty.


PARTIAL PAYMENTS – The Mason County Treasurer accepts partial payments of delinquent property taxes.  Partial payments must be a minimum of either ten percent (10%) of the base taxes due or $50.00, which ever is greater.


MAILING & DELIVERY ADDRESS – The mailing and delivery address for property tax payments is:  Mason County Treasurer, Mason County Courthouse, 304 E. Ludington Avenue, Suite 104, Ludington, Michigan 49431-2121.


RECEIPTS - The Mason County Treasurer issues receipts for all payments.  Payments received by mail will have a receipt mailed to the payee.
