PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
The Commission is a 10 member body established as provided by a state law. Members include the chairman of the Road Commission or one of it’s members, the Drain Commissioner, Chairman of the Planning Commission, a member of the County Board, and six members appointed by the County Board whose terms are for 3 years which are staggers so that two members are appointed each year. Generally at the first meeting of each year this group elects a Chairperson, a Vice Chairperson, and a Secretary to act for the Commission. Since the formation of the Parks and Recreation Commission in 1974, the Secretary has acted as the supervisor of the county parks and is responsible for all phases of operations of the parks and reports to the Commission. The Commission lays out the capital improvement plans for the parks. Since the year 2000 the commission has held four meetings per year and this practice will continue in 2006. If there becomes a need for more meetings the Chairperson will call special meetings.

Charles Lange, Carole Strall, David Maclean, Jeffrey Schwass, Tom Organ, Donald Gall, Ron Carter, David Hasenbank - Secretary, Robert Thurow, Tom Organ, and Michael G. Schneider - Chairman.
