The Mason County Campground is located at 5906 W. Chauvez Rd. approximately 5 miles south of Ludington. Please do not send mail to this address but to the Post Office Box. Campground telephone is 231-845-7609. The grounds contain approximately 60 acres of tall trees, mostly hardwoods, with 56 modern camp sites placed around a paved circle. A modern bath house with modern restrooms is located in the middle of the circle and contains showers, one of which is handicap approved, and a special restroom for handicapped campers. Most of the sites will accept the largest camping unit. A few sites are grassy sites for tents. All remaining sites have stone pads for camping units and each has electric service of either 30 or 50 amps. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. Water outlets are conveniently placed around the grounds. The gate is located on the north side of Chauvez Rd. and the campground sits away from and out of sight from the road. Just inside the gate there is potable water available and a dumping station for camping units. At the west end of the camping area is Hull Field, a flying field for radio controlled model airplanes. Campers may use this field but must be licensed to do so. A one and a half mile long hiking path leads from the camping area to the flying field and on through a forest to a picnic pavilion. Also located in the campground are swings, a slide, and a merry-go-round in the same area as a large picnic shelter for camper use. A 27 hole public golf course is located ½ mile from the campground.
Reservations are accepted. You may request them by mail or telephone. Beginning in the 2007 camping season, camping fees are as follows: $21 per night for sites with electric or $25 for sites with electric, water, and sewer connections. These prices are for a family unit consisting of two (2) adults and children under 16 years of age. Additional adults will be charged $5.00 per night to a maximum of four (4) adults per site. A reservation fee of $3 plus the full fee as listed above for each day reserved and each site reserved must accompany the reservation or it will be returned to maker. You may send us the following information to make a reservation from this web site. Reservations for holiday camping MUST be for a minimum of 3 days for holidays and for Macker week-end a minimum of 2 days. Beginning in 2008, an alcohol ban is in effect for the four major weekends of the season. These are Memorial Day, Macker weekend, 4th of July and labor Day.
