      The Mason County Zoning Board of Appeals will be meeting for the following variance requests:

      Richard and Diane Sinclair have requested variances in order to expand a nonconforming accessory dwelling on a property located in the Recreational Residential (RR) zoning district, Summit Township. The parcel has two known addresses: 7425 S. Lakeshore Drive and 7431 S. Lakeshore Drive. The applicants are requesting a variance from 1.) Standard 3.01a(2) which requires the property owner to occupy either the principal dwelling unit or accessory dwelling unit, 2.) Standard 3.01a(14)(a) which requires either the principal dwelling unit or the accessory dwelling unit to be occupied as the homestead residence by the applicant or the applicant’s heirs, and 3.) Standard 3.01a(9) which requires accessory dwelling units to have a floor area of no less than 720 sf and no more than 1,000 square feet. The proposed accessory dwelling unit would be 624.5 square feet.

      Brett and Beth Saxton have requested a variance on a property located in the Agricultural (AG) zoning district, Riverton Township, access 6964 S. Schwass Road. The request is to expand a nonconforming dwelling with a 986 square foot addition. 

      Carold and Janice Chase have requested a 5’ variance from the required 10’ side lot setback in order to build a 20’ x 30’ detached garage. The subject property is located in the Residential (R) zoning district, Logan Township, parcel 008-300-064-00, access 5672 S Rapids Road.
